@DanMachine, I don't know what you are getting at here? Of course the greenhouse effect has an effect during the day.
The entire time the sun is shining on the face of the earth during the day light and heat are both reflected and radiated from the earth's surface back out to space.
The greenhouse effect captures some of that heat that was radiated back off the surface and keeps it.
This happens during both night and day.
Radiative heat transfer is not like conductive heat transfer. Maybe you are thinking of that? With conductive heat transfer the heat always flows from the hottest area to the coolest.
But radiative heat transfer isn't like that, and therefore the greenhouse effect still continues to operate during the day.
That's why on a hot day the inside of a car will often be much hotter than the outside temperature. Greenhouse effect. Surely living in Australia you must have experienced this on a summer's day?
