I'm actually pondering the chance that stage 2 will be in the DFS... To be built same time as stage 1. GM put a spanner in the works of the timeline for the DFS, and in my view was a primary reason it was delayed. I know the GM negotiations commenced around March and took 7 months (public info if you follow QPM commentary on other forums).
Wondering if the GM involvement, which is now public, specifically relating to the off take for 100% of stage 2, might have caused a rethink, because Dr SG did say building stage 2 would not cost 2 times stage 1, and economies of scale would be optimal if it was built at same time.
From a capex perspective it would make sense, and as an investment banker who worked on structured finance, I would like the deal even more not just because of the underlying agreement with GM, but also because returns would be proportionally higher from an earlier date.
Dare to dream. Not long now and we will know.
I remain convinced the good Doctor has some surprises up his sleeves.
