    1. @WJN said above, quoting the AFR

"If Telstra wanted to keep net debt in the middle of its 1.5 to 2-times EBITDA target, JPMorgan said it may need to set aside only $1.75 billion to repay debt.“Therefore, under the different valuation scenarios we estimate A$10.5-$15.5 billion could be returned to shareholders,” the analysts told clients on Tuesday morning.

JPMorgan’s tipping BUYBACKS as the most likely way to return the capital, which would INCREASE DIVIDENDS (all my emphases) on remaining shares".

It seems, therefore, should TLS sell c. 49% of InfraCo Fixed, not only would there be a rise in the SP, but the biggest gains for TLS shareholders would be increased dividends.

    2.. Channel 9 News M. Saunokonoko said

"Considering the care and attention they should be taking at the moment to rectify a serious data breach, I'm sort of disgusted they got such a basic item wrong."
The letter also incorrectly said none of Healy's ID document details or numbers had been taken, when in fact his driver's license number and Medicare details were hoovered up in the breach".

If this allegation is correct, & was widespread, then Optus may attract additional legal penalties, & obtain more bad publicity, for the incorrect information it gave to current & former customers about the extent of the hack: "lulling them into a false sense of security" etc.

This is just an example of the bad publicity Optus is attracting in the MSM- IMO, it will anger many of the 9.8m people affected by the hack- & cause many more defections from Optus.

    3. The claim that this hack would be a legal issue for months & years- if correct- indicates that Optus will be attracting much bad publicity in the mainstream media- which is likely to increase its defection rates, with many switching to TLS (which should significantly increase its profits).

    Woefully unprepared

The fallout from the Optus data breach may take months, even years, to play out.
