On the subject of trading volumes there is a connection I think to the observation that AFD made when opening the Dual Listing thread.
"I think there are many factors contributing to the current situation but that the predominant factor is that the ASX is not the best place (solo-wise) for VMT to be."
The (solo wise) in that statement led I guess to the Dual Listing title.
Would dual listing solve the problems ? Maybe companies that are too small to be of any interest to market makers just shouldn't be listed.
Maybe AFD should have said "VMT shouldn't be listed"
Or Better still " VMT provides an opportunity for small investors to get a stake in a Private Equity Play"
Don't those Investment Bankers make a killing when they take over a good company that is being undervalued . They of course can't buy a tightly held good company that is being undervalued for an undervalue price because there is too much savvy private equity in it already.
What does private equity do during the private period? Unshackled by the listing they simply wait for the market conditions to improve and add to the company until it's profitable enough to support a valuation that is big enough to be attractive to institutional and other "market maker " investors. They then incur the not inconsiderable expense of re-listing.
What is VMT doing ? Not wasting unnecessary time on the listing because it's a cot case and concentrating on the main game of building the business and profits which will very soon get it to the stage where being listed makes sense. It's not far off being big enough to not only be of interest to the Institutions but to be on the list of things their operating manual tells them they must invest in.
