I don’t think there’s such a thing as learning quickly in politics
at least, not often. The process usually takes decades. The Liberal party has not ever got traction for change. I don’t believe that change is possible without changing the guiding principles in their? conservative recipe.
they must change the recipe. But to change the recipe- they won’t be a Conservative party. In short, they’re buggered.
they really can only reform into a form of progressive party - or just cease to exist.
personally, I think they’ll just bleed out into other groups and smaller parties - what and which gain traction is to be seen.
by the time we see a new normal - society may be totally different and the only normal will be constant rapid change - hard to predict
