Most interesting for me is . . . Shortlisted by state-owned enterprise, in relation to potentially performing feasibility study, to evaluate downstream processing options for major salt works project . . . Shortlisted is good, but also implies competition, and I wondering how far into 'product recovery from brine' that competition is.

According to the report, the chemicals complex aims to build industries and plants that convert brine, the main waste output of desalination, into industrial materials that can be used locally or exported internationally. NEOM’s water and energy subsidiary ENOWA said the brine generated from the desalination plant will be treated to feed industries utilizing high-purity industrial salt, bromine, boron, potassium, gypsum, magnesium and rare metal feedstocks, the report added. . . .

If the article tells it as it is, some company(s?) will be getting an enormous boost to developing-implementing-validating their brine product-recovery technology. Great gig to land, could be a bit nasty if another company lands the job and the rewards. Possibly associated with the NEOM agreement that Worley announced, but doubt we'll hear anything unless PWN gets in on a FS.
