"IMO Dr. Len and Ergo are not to much different to CNX in that they are great at doing pilot plants but not taking anything to the next level. The 400Mw Power Station is a re-hashed plan from when Dr. Len and Ergo had Linc, it didn't work for them then and as they haven't changed their approach I don't see it working for them now."

I believe Len's plan for Linc involved a 60 to 70MW power station, and the reason it "didn't work for them" was because it was made obsolete by the fact the giant 750MW Kogan Creek power station was built quite literally just across the road, and provides enough power not only for the region but for a large part of Northern NSW as well. CS Energy had no need for Linc's comparatively paltry 70MW plant (especially since it was based on high-risk technology) so it didn't go ahead.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that there was disagreement at Linc about which direction to take the company since the Chinchilla power station wasn't going to be built. Len wanted to keep going in electricity, which is why he resigned and started Cougar. Peter Bond later ended up taking over at Linc and taking them down the GTL path.

Long story short, Len's failure to get the Linc power plant built was nothing to do with either Len or UCG. They haven't "changed their approach" because it doesn't need changing. They have changed what they needed to change - a much bigger power plant, taking control of it themselves, and not letting CS Energy anywhere near it. The political climate has also changed radically since 2002, with electricity demand increasing and stated Queensland policy that no new coal-fired plants will be allowed. Cougar's 400MW plant is in a MUCH stronger position than Linc's 70MW ever was.

Once again, a few facts and some perspective can expose a lot of the furphies flying around this place.
