"Only those who perpetually stand around with their hand out waiting for something to land in it with minimum input on their part, will have been impressed with how the government has acted so far."

Who is kidding who here? Captains of industry and economists have applauded the stimulus and even the Opposition has acknowledged it also would have gone into deficit with differences at the margins, that is, where the money would have been spent. Statements such as the quote above are typical of entrenched Opposition supporters who continually try and demean those who support the Government approach. Well it wont do your side any good as it will only infuriate those who made a decision to support Labor at the last election and they wont be changing their mind any time soon. IMO.

Business organisations applauded it and I'm sure the bulk of our senior citizens and taxpayers who received the stimulus would have applauded it. The ones who don't support it are in the main the politically entrenched conservatives or SOME of those who earned too much to qualify. Instead of counting their blessings this small minority is envious of the vast majority of middle and low income Australians who received stimulus payments. Of course there are also many high income earners who did not receive a payment and support the payments that went to most Australians and realise the benefit those monies were in keeping business ticking during the worst of the GFC.

So the insults from those who ridicule the stimulus recipients are just water off a ducks back and those recipients will keep the Liberals out of government until they show they are for all Australians and reflect that in their policies. The whingeing from the Libs will surely continue for a further three years after the Rudd Labor Government is re-elected.
