It's not disrespectful at all actually, did you just get out of sensitivity training or something?
The problem with their complaint is the dredging will barely impact the local area, let alone the coastline which is 22KM away. Where they are sucking up sand is roughly 50m deep, they then deposit it back at 46m depth. Now the commotion of the vehicle and whatever will certainly raise plumes higher than 4m off the seabed, but the amounts are negligible and the height of the plumes will still be significantly under the surface.
I could imagine certain water conditions could move the plumes further away and in those water conditions it may be best to pause operations.
But either way I support those people being able to protest, they should protest, because without that these companies wouldn't be going to the effort of what TTR proposed. They would just be dumping it off the top, barely caring about how it is all going to end up. And if mining is approved they should be tested regularly to make sure it isn't causing major disturbances to any important areas.
