I had to laugh when I read this. You wouldn't know a sophisticated investor if one stood in front of you and bopped you on the nose, probably deservedly. This type of transaction doesn't show much at all other than blind stupidity or reducing any existing risk with whatever throw-away fees he gets from performing an officeholder role in a dying company or he might even be buying these for someone else.
