I suspect those that put 51M short in yesterday have no intention of letting this run too quickly.

Basically a doubling of the total shorts.
This is basically a common practice by hedge funds when they know there are forced index buyers on a certain day. They got a nice high price at the close and probably shorted again on open. Will take a while to settle down, though they would have closed a decent amount on the lows today.
