Agreed, in fact a buyback is the opposite, it distributes profit to those selling off their interest in the company while those who hold their shares have to wait ages to receive uncertain future benefits.
I've mentioned ANZ, what about S32, bought back a whole heap of shares at about $5 each, current price is $4.20ish. I'd love someone to explain again how that buyback helped me?
If you were the shareholder when they earned a profit, it is your money and they should be giving it to you, not to people who are selling and have no interest in retaining their shares. I can quite happily buy their shares off them myself thank you very much.
