this is the one item that all voters want..... to be listened to and heard. and its been a fault of all political parties because parties operate under a set of policies that defines what they believe to be true. hence anything outside the party parameters is automatically considered to be false.
back in the 60's our political education was often delivered by school teachers. my social Studies teacher was a Lib supporter so all the lessons we had were premised with the assumption that Menzies was god-like and incapable of falsity (which have me a basic idea that Menzies liberals were so damn good - confirmed by later studies) and while the Labs did a good job during the war they remained bloody-minded communists under the banner of Stalin! - I learned the factual basis of this claim in the 70's, and also the truth of why Whitlam failed as a Gov and economic manager.
