Is our FORS (Federal Office of Road Safety) redundant now
tat the big 3 Multinational Auto Manufacturers have uped stumps
leaving Aus to import vehicles CBU.

All we have to do is to recognise EU, Jap & US vehicle
safety and security standards and there you have it....
no need for a costly/drawn out Australian Compliance
system with 500 odd highly paid bureaucrats sitting
in front of computer screens at the consumers' and taxpayers expense.

By recognising the Big 3 overseas vehicle certifying standards,
all we'd need is a few inspectors at ports of entry certifying that
all import vehicles have either, Jap, EU or US certification.
    Not rocket science...eh?
The States have their own "one off"certification process for
orphans or modified vehicles so there is no need for FORS
    to duplicate that.

Had FORS discovered the Diesel Cheats or the defective
Air Bags etc, then there might be a case for retaining
part of its engineering/investigative arm, IMO.
