Agree and it never ceases to amaze me that shareholders are silent and incapable of action in the face of the shenanigans of some companies and the people who control them. (Allco immediately springs to mind but there are countless others you could name.)
In addition I am intolerent of the practice of paying large salaries and perks and justifying them by saying " We have to pay them or we will loose these extremely talanted individuals."
For every one of these people there are a plethora of talented people who would do a equal or better job at a greately reduced cost. Public Companies should not operate for the benefit of the executives who control them but should exist to trade and earn a reward for those that own them namely the shareholders. Until the shareholders reinforce this by becoming active and assertive the situation will continue.
