Just looking at CATL and BYD, marketleaders in EV battery production.
Both this year have been buying up lithium mines.
BYD is in discussions with the Chilean Governmentto bring DLE to the salt lakes, and to build an EV battery business in Chileand has bought 4 Li mines in Africa.
CATL, who made the recent announcement on Sodiumbatteries, bought into Chinese Salt lakes and into AVZ this year.
Both will not be producing as scheduled, floodingin the Chinese Salt Lakes, ownership dispute in the Congo and will need to relymore on past offtakes for supply e.g PLS.
The offtake has only 2 years to run.
Not to mention no NAL or Canada for CATL.
CATL is definitely in a Li squeeze.
I would say CATL was the unknown Chinese cathodecompany behind the rumor of Li oversupply used by GS etc.
Fake news to try and bring the prices down.
Now more flimsy fake news to say Li is on the wayout to dampen the Li market whilst they look for more Li supply.
CATL will need high grade Li for the Europeanmarket which they have invested heavily into already to produce Li batteriesfor SUV's or similar not bubble cars.
