I've long believed that Edwards would be the company that ends up buying us (game theory, they have too much to lose if they don't) although I now believe that it will be a 3rd party currently not involved in the TAVI market.....
Why?
Because in my opinion the greatest motivators in people are Fear and Envy. Not fear and greed, fear and ENVY.
I have no doubt that for the last decade multiple major med tech companies have looked onto the TAVR space and the major profits being made by Edwards and Medtronic and been ENVIOUS, wishing that they too had a piece of the pie. Many have tried, and they have all failed. The TAVR space is STILL owned by just two companies.
Well, this is their chance! Decades of envy and resentment at not having a piece of the pie, not having a seat at the table, could be rectified by purchasing Anteris and their world beating TAVR.
Which is why I now believe what I believe.
Although going by the same logic Edwards' fear of losing their market share and a majority of their revenue is also a strong motivator. Yes.
The reason why I'm going with a 3rd party, someone like say a Johnson and Johnson, is deeper pockets. Greater ability to raise funds.
Johnson and Johnson market cap $460 Billion US vs Edwards $45 Billion US
Even Boston Scientic, say, has a far superior market cap to Edwards, $66 Billion US (nearly 50% bigger.)
