SurferDude, Following on from your post, I will see if i can get to talk to Errol after the lunch - he might duck out the stage door however if he reads these threads...

Id be just as interested in hearing from someone who understands volcanic sequences. Id like to hear a detailed review of the volcano sedimentary sequences they intersected both at Zapato and in other holes, with a view to understanding the interrelationship of sub-units within the 2,000 odd m of Ophiolite sequence. Im sure there's intrusives, extrusives, breccias, sediments - its not "homogenous". This will have a role to play in trying to predict thickness and extent of the overall unit. They can then try to marry that with the geophysics...

My belief is the Ophiollites serve to "hermetically seal" deeper hydrocarbon accumulations, preserving the lighter end hydrocarbons which are more susceptible to physical, chemical and biological degradation... (thats why we have heavy oils historically encountered near surface in this area). So it may be just as important to map the subsurface extent of the Ophiolites, by looking at seismic, gravity and also volcanic facies and associations.
