The judge would be requested to issue an injunction to stop drilling and digging until the case is decided.

How long does that take? Well, the BLM “announcement” for Lithium Americas came on January 15, 2021. It’s still in court. This was for mining, not exploratory drilling, which carries no implication of eventual mining approval. LAC did choose to do some preliminary work at Thacker Pass, but they have not started mining until they know it’s not going to be stopped.
