The first 13 verses of John's opener is about Yahweh and his word, word of life, salvation plan.
Mal 3:1 - Behold, I will send my messenger (John), and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith Yahweh of hosts.
The way at first (13 verses) is being prepared for (about) Yahweh, who is about to send his only begotten Son.
Hence Jesus "suddenly" shows up at verse 1:14.
9 The true light that gives light to everyonewascoming into the world.
KJV and backed via the Interlinear -> That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
The light being referenced here is referring to the word of Yahweh, his word is light.
The light (word) was already in the world, hence it's says 'every man', Moses and all etc.
Psa 119:105 - Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
------------
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
Through Him = Yahweh;
Isa 44:24 - Thus saith Yahweh, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I Yahweh that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
He did this through, by reason of, on account of, because of, for the sake of, the future one to be, Jesus, where he would then place all things into his hands.
1 Cor 15:24 - Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to the God and Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
-----------------
11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
Pre the flood period is a classical example of where they didn't receive Yahweh.
------------------
Interlinear John 1:14 - And the Word flesh became and tabernacled in (among) us, and we beheld the Glory of Him, Glory as only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
And the Word (Yahweh's salvation plan = the Word) flesh became................
The Glory being referred to here is the word of Yahweh, full of grace and truth.
John 17:20 & 22 - Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: -> (I and the Father are one).
Glory = word..........you can only become one as they are one by accepting and abiding in the word of God, which are spirit and life, words of eternal life etc.
In these above verses (17) Jesus is effectively identifying a person by their word.
Effectively showing that a person is their word.
Hence John 1:1.............and God (Yahweh) was the Word.
John 5:26 - For as the Father has life in Himself (In his word John 1:4) so has he given to the Son to have life in himself.
John 12:49 - For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 6:63 - It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you (Fathers), they are spirit, and they are life.
