Gold miners collectively are making the most of the non-existent Santa Claus rally thus far and single-handedly bringing the ASX200 green. EVN was top on the boards until I took the screen shot below... The IO miners (FMG, BHP and RIO) are doing their bit too but not in the leader boards below that is for sure. Gold up above $1800 US has a lot to do with it.
Still we have a few in the gold sub sector (smaller ones) not contributing to the Santa Rally. I'm buying those at the moment... I believe I can get more deep value bang for my buck on these, now that the larger miners (gold miners included) had first call on the majority of the capital in the portfolio...
Out of the 3 above I'll probably keep buying ALK the most. It has the most pristine balance sheet of the 3 gold miners I'm still buying. Plus GMD is not really that small anymore as it will be Hoover (GMD+SBM) soon enough. AIS deserves an honourable mention. Although not a pure goldie and I'm personally not buying more of it as I'm up to my neck in AIS shares... Yes I believe gold miners are going to have a great 2023.
