Whilst the Iron grade is important, the levels of impurities (eg: Alumina, Phosphorous, Silica etc) are often the deciding economic factor. These levels appear to be encouragingly low in the test work done thus far. The style of deposit, and the ease at which the magnetite content (ie: the Iron) can be liberated from the mined material is a major factor too.
It is noteworthy that Steelworks such as Whyalla are converting to magnetite concentrate feed stock due to the lower impurities and higher concentrate of the Iron in this style of feed.
