the Aussie dollar was on its way to parity when the GFC hit, we plummeted to around 60c in late 2008. Normal service has since resumed and China is growing around 8% meantime the US faces all sorts of problems. I would bet on parity soon unless we get another left field economic disaster and a flight to safety (it's still incongruous to me how flight to safety means buying US dollars!)
