I think I was always wise enough to read/review statistical data from a range of providers over time but was always a little uncomfortable about the fact that, often, two providers would present differing statistical results. Neither was necessarily wrong but they would apply a range of subtleties to their calculations that caused differences albeit of a minor nature.
Having read Adam's contributions over time I realised that I needed to establish my own detailed database for all companies in which I have shares and for those I'm watching. For me there is no other way to tackle this stuff seriously.
Never would I suggest that my statistical analysis was more complete or logical than the providers I mentioned earlier, but what my own analysis offers is consistency (my consistency) of approach across the years for one company together with a consistency of approach when comparing one company's results with another where it's appropriate.
It can be time consuming, particularly when you spend a few days analysing results only to conclude that the analysis suggests the company isn't the right fit.
But working through stuff at the macro level makes you more attuned to a company's financial worth.

All my data comes for the statutory accounts - nothing from Power Point slides.

Before you make up your mind about all of this it may be prudent to see if those students tutored by Adam have to repeat their subject next semester. You've got to ask the hard questions.
