I don't know that GFG know or cares much about copper. In the break I spoke to my Brother in law who was pretty senior in BHP.
His view is that all the magnetite attempted producer shave ended in disaster. only the Indians would try it. The most recent and current advanced effort is Iron Bridge project by FMG.

Certainly his comments reflect my experience with the Indians and magnetite. Atlas Iron got up as a producer & of Haematite the got their magnetite project to DFS level and the Indians said they would fund the $3B project (signed a Heads of Agreement). Their efforts could only be described as 'farting around' for a year or two with every excuse in the book till the opportunity passed. Now the guy in Charge form Atla's end was Ken Brinsden - the Guy who has subsequently built PLS Pilbara minerals into a power-house. So I am 99% certain it not form our end.

The result also with the number of agreements to develop and take uranium make me very reticent to go anywhere near deals with India. I acknowledge the eventual result result on the Carmichael coal mine which has left the greens steaming (pun intended). I'll quickly throw in the story where India promised to undercut Aust. iron ore miners high price sin sales to China one point which also left them fuming because their low grade ore was full of bricks and plastic bags.
