Because the formation test tool has pressure gauges (quartz and strain) that are sensitive to temperature (esp quartz gauge) its usual to run the tool from top to bottom for the pressure survey. Some operators will sit for 30 mins at the casing shoe to let gauges stabilize before continuing in the hole but there are arguments for and against this practice.
If the hole is hot then pressure survey may be run from bottom top...the logic being to acquire as many data points as possible before the tool fails.
Some operators will deviate from the above procedures if there are stations with varying priorities. If samples are critical then they might do just enough pressures to be able to pick sample points, do samples and then go back and complete pressures.
The most common procedure from my experience is pressures first from top to bottom and then samples working out.
