Good post however I think the problem you face Dan is that a number of HC posters may not understand the difference between share price and valuation.

While this is it probably well understood for the experienced investors I thought I would summarise this for some of the newer investors - particularly those who seem to have difficulty understanding the difference between sp and valuation.

A stock price is not a perfect reflection of the actual value of a company.

There are many factors that can influence the demand for a particular stock, including the performance of the company, investor sentiment, economic conditions, and news about the company or industry.

In some cases, the market may appear to be "wrong" because the prices of certain stocks do not accurately reflect the underlying value of the company. This can happen due to speculation, investor hype (or lack of), low liquidity or limited market coverage of a company.

Typically the gap between valuation and share prices is wider in the smaller end of the market where stocks have less coverage by institutional investors.

It is also important to note that the stock prices are also subject to broad market volatility, and prices can fluctuate significantly in response to changing market conditions. As such, it is not uncommon for a stock to experience extended periods of overvaluation or undervaluation.

Overall, it is important to approach investing with a long-term perspective and to carefully consider the underlying valuation of a company before making investment decisions.

Once the value of a company is know then investors can work out if the company’s sp is cheap or expensive.
