Karoon Gas In a broker note from Merrill Lynch, it downgraded Karoon to neutral from buy and lifted its price target to $8.89 from $7.86. Late yesterday, Karoon confirmed the Kronos-1 exploration well is approaching its planned depth. The well is at 4,748 meters vs the planned depth of 5,322 meters, indicating it must be close to penetrating target Plover formation. Merrill believes the well is likely to hit the target depth in the next two weeks or so, and success could push shares above $12.00, but failure could lead to a sell-off to $4.50. The broker also notes that Karoon has other promising assets in Brazil and Peru. Merrill said Karoon is not a one-trick pony, adding that its Latin American portfolio presents a compelling 12-month investment case.
