Gee , China has strayed a long way from Marxist Leninistic practices but I do agree that the economy is second only to party control in China as a priority and one of the few things the pragmatists there really care about .
Yes of course , russia have failed to use their time since glasnost and have drifted lower than their once peers like Germany and Japan economically and this has effected their military capabilities and hence the power they can expect to exert .
The current war illustrates that their leadership have failed to understand this point .The war isn't being lost NOW in Ukraine but was lost in the previous two decades of corruption and stagnation .
Chinese military is still in the juvenile stage but certainly will be a great force in a decade and backed by a huge economy .
While the jury is still out on your question on who is favoured .... I don't see Europes economy weakening such as to cause it to stop supporting Ukraine ...if it did stop supporting Ukraine I think it would be down to political reasons associated with the peoples exhaustion and a decrease in enthusiasm - not that I predict that , but a possibility .
