Did Canada "denigrate" their heritage when they introduced a new flag?

There are actually a lot of people who don't know Australia's true heritage because the real story hasn't made the history books and it isnt taught in schools.
I would like to acknowledge and respect aboriginals as the first Australians.

I believe the union jack on the Australian flag, and in fact Australia day is a massive slap in the face to our indigenous who know the real story of murders, genocide, rape, torture that went down.

Cabbie1, Ahh yess I must be a "looney lefty" because I'd like the future to positively acknowledge our aboriginal heritage. I mean it was only Abbott who publically admitted last week that one of the Howard governments biggest mistakes was refusing to apologise to Australia's indigenous population (Should we call them "righties"?)

"Holden" and "Ford" flags are something I associate with bogans, the last group of Australians I'd expect to understand the reasons behind changing the flag as they probably already have the existing Australian flag or at least the southern cross tattooed on their body.
