From what I understand they open a number of sites across the country and begin recruiting and screening. Some places naturally are able to recruit quicker than others. Typically major metro are easier, some of the smaller centres can take time. It varies based on a number of factors such as population density, profile, age of typical resident in and around these centres etc etc.

However, take a look at a more illustrative example dealing with OA prevalence by age across USA...evenly distributed?

You'd think so...but not so in actuality:



The red star above is California. One of the more populated states in the USA but look at OA prevalence there, way down the list! I can easily see how this could be a recruitment problem, if one were to put too many recruiting centres in this one such state ...it would be harder to drive numbers specially at the start when no one knows what Zilosul is and how it works. though recruiting will get easier as waves go through and ppl chat.


I suspect Box Hill, Victoria, Aus. is a major player as they have had a closer association in past trials and studies with PAR and perhaps other OA studies so they can easily recruit quicker and in more numbers. However there are limits. We want an even spread across all, not 90% from one centre and 1% scattered over the remaining 50 sites for instance.

I also suggest that there are more post codes in the USA where they may want to increase recruitment drive rates more so than others.
