Bonza will fly out of the Sunshine Coast as its hub.
It lists Albury; Avalaon; Bundaberg; Cairns; Coffs; Gladstone; Mackay; Melbourne; Mildura; Newcastle; Port Mac; Rockhampton; Tamworth; Townsville and Whitsundays as destination airports.
Time will tell if it survives, but with Rex, Virgin, Bonza and Qantas (Jetstar) all in competition on the East Coast and a creepy economic recession, I am still amazed at Qantas being valued $12 billion. The margins will tighten after this purple patch, particularly with the ACCC looking at airefares. That's why US money is flowing into Bonza, Rex and Virgin. The domestic market too lucrative and they want a bite of the recent rich pickings (15 year highs in airfares) QAN has enjoyed.
If you are trading forward earnings, you are not buying Qantas.
