Yea hydrogen is the genie in the bottle that will struggle to get out due to many technical and practical issues like water freezing in its fuel cells, fuel cells made from hard to get and rare expensive minerals, needing to be stored under pressure in heavy tanks which makes vehicles heavier, 6 times larger fuel tanks than petrol because its 6 times less energy capacity, needs massive heavier and larger distribution and storage systems, leaks profusely from containment etc etc, plus its highly explosive.
