So based on your argument it would be better to continue burning off fossil fuels to keep energy prices down while continuing to pollute the atmosphere?

I can see your argument from a purely surface level but dig a bit deeper to see the concepts of ESG. What about the company that destroys thousands year old artefacts to continue its mining destroying a part of history while doing that. Is that ok? Or the company that pollutes the river ignoring systemic issues to reduce costs, while our kids swim in it getting sick. Or the river that granddads can no longer take their grand kids to learn how to fish. Or the forest that's no longer there for next generations to play hide and seek in.

dig a bit deeper and you'll start understanding the relevance to societies future of ESG and the inclusiveness it's concepts brings.
