At Bayan Obo the REE Minerals were discovered in 1936 and the niobium bearing ores in the late 1950's.

Still very early days for WA1. There are further parallels that can be drawn around iron ore being that WA1 was lookiing for an IOCG because there is plenty of iron ore in the area.

Bayan Obo iron ore reserves were discovered in 1927. Apart from iron ore the pit produces 15 kinds of rare earths including Niobium.
Bayan Obo is a massive polymetallic rare earth element (REE) and iron ore deposit of hydrothermal origin.




The reason they are testing the supergene ore after initial discovery is because the initial work was targetting a deep deposit. The type of discovery was a surprise and the ore type also a surprise. Thats why the upper levels were not tested initially. That's the short term upside.

Bayan Obo is an IOCG.





Here are soil sample results from WA1. Looks like the presence of rare earths in the soil and copper.



The questions that I am hypothetically asking are - Is the Duck a dike. A carbonatite intrusion.
Is the main game still a mystery.






The two Niobium discoveries so far may just be the start. Plucka Duck. I'll be happy of this is like B.O.

It seems to have all the right elements although economic quantitities of Niobium are the only element identified as mineable so far.



Bring on the supergene. Hope the next rig is a rig capable of drilling to depth and pulling core.
