The NHS is in a really bad way with 133,000 vacancies, they need 12,000 doctors and 40,000 nurses. Nurses are leaving the UK in droves going to Middle East, US, Canada and Australia where wages are at lease 30% higher plus conditions are much better. Nurses wages have not kept up with inflation and are down 8% over the last 10 years. They are asking for a 10% increase but the government are refusing to talk about money as ambulance workers, rail workers, postal worker , border staff and teachers are having strike days as well. IMO it will be settled with an increase of around 8%over 2 years and a lump sum payment.
Hospitals really need to embrace new technology such as alcidion which can make them more efficient and move patients through the system quicker, however there is a major problem here, beds are blocked at the back end because or a lack of social care for patients when they go home and a lack of step down beds in care homes. As a result patients are left on trollies in A&E departments sometimes for days and ambulances are parked up ouside hospitals unable to discharge their patients.
So the NHS is in a real mess and you would imagine that alc would be signing contracts every week. Alcidion have invested a lot in the UK and I think Kate is also frustrated about the lack of contracts.
As I said in my post yesterday I think contracts may on hold until the nurses strike is sorted because all budgets may have to be cut to pay for the increase.
I am really amazed that we have only had one contract out of the UK in the last 9 months, I have a feeling that we will have a number of announcements in quick succession. This company has tremendous potential worldwide and I think we are on a winner, I just hope it gets a move on soon.
