From your comments I get the feeling you've been involved alot in cased hole and completions operations rather than open hole ops.
During my working career my area of operation was primarily open hole wireline operations. 99% of the time during wireline operations the only time I'd see any Drilling personnel in the wireline unit was when things were going pear shaped. Wireline operations were witnessed by the Wellsite Geologist and any QA applied by same. I worked with all the main service companies and a few of the second tier companies as well and while Slb were usually my preference even they had their odd off days with jobs where QA on their part was not up to scratch.
