I assume the "the problem with some of you" in relation to time is not directled at me.
We will not see much revenue growth this quarter. (I will be plesantly surprised if we do but it will come eventually)
For the "nice piece of code"....The banks and visa etc. did not do it themselves because they did not think about it and it was never intended to be used in that way.
Like all good inventions/advancements it takes earlier inventions not associated with eacth other and someone outside each immediate box to put it together.
Invention/Adv.1) - Online shopping/checkouts (merchants)
Invention/Adv. 2) - Credit Cards/BNPL (the first form of bank issued BNPL is a credit card)
Invention/Adv. 3) - Credit card features for merchants (holds, release, charges)
Now...
1) who in the banking industry is looking at how they can increase online checkout sales to improve some one elses business - none. their business and all employed are money lenders.
2) which businesses and online shops are developing credit card technologies for themselves thinking of new features - none. they use whats available as they just want to sell pots and pans and pack boxes and ship and feed the family.
So a time came when someone detached from both seen two existing technologies/advancements and linked them.
It was a simple idea that no one had thought about.
And the code (logic) is very very simple (nice piece of software). An 8 year old could write the logic (steps) to achieve what splitit does if you give them the parameters of a credit card (hold, release, charge, time,#transactions) and tell them you wanted to apply it to a situation where the the consumer can split a buy into small pieces over time.
Look at all the comments on here....they all have the underlying tone of...wow, why didnt I think of that.
Its not because its hard or difficult that it never got done by others. Its because it was out of mind of daily focus of all involved. Like all good inventions they are usually a combination of few different existing things that are so simple that normal people say...why didnt I think of that.
Its a very very simple piece of code the bit that is the patent.
