Geos, I suspect there may be some slight /fudging' here in the precise identification of which of the subgroups, Emperor or Golden Beach, contained the Longtom gas discovery. I note that the independent geo's report for BAS states (of the Golden Beach): 'This unit is largely confined to the Central Deep of the basin and does not extend significantly beyond the Rosedale Fault System in the north...'. Longtom is shown in various schematics as about 5-10km north of the Rosedale Fault System, so maybe it was really in Emperor Subgroup. It might have been more conclusive had BHP drilled deeper in the first instance. Then again, the key word above might be 'significantly', in which case it could have been either. They both contain sandstones which is good.
