You assume he is driving people all the time. There are also a few extra costs like depreciation. Higher insurance, rego etc. He can get away without registering the car for business but that means he isn't covered for 3rd party or vehicle insurance. Re giving him cash, he still pays the 50% or whatever the rate is to uber. Can't avoid it. It's all measured unless he is cheating them.

Oh and did I mention possible lawyer fees for income tax and gst fraud!
