Hookes was pushing, shoving bouncers, court told
A Melbourne court has heard Victorian cricket coach David Hookes was pushing and shoving hotel bouncers before he received fatal head injuries in a fight.
A committal hearing is continuing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court for 22-year-old bouncer Zdravko Micevic who is charged with the manslaughter of David Hookes.
The Victorian cricket coach died after a fight outside a St Kilda hotel in January.
South Australian coach Wayne Phillips told the court Hookes pushed and shoved the bouncers after he was ejected from the hotel and told them they would "cop" it the next day on the radio.
Mr Phillips told the court he was beside Hookes when Hookes fell to the ground but did not see what happened.
He said a number of the cricketers were scuffling when Hookes fell.
He denied that after Hookes was taken to hospital that he was concerned about a public relations disaster telling the court he was more concerned about Hookes.
