The $50M they spent on "getting the word out" must have been a calculated decision by the Board. They must have calculated that everybody (Drs) needed to get a face to face and they thought the personal up front sales method was the effective method.
That type of spending should not be repeated. We will just have to see how things track. The new products they just purchased lost a lot of money spreading the word and they haven't made a profit yet. I think MYX are trying to tackle this problem of the cost of sales, by accumulating a large group of important associated products so the sales reps have everything a Dr would want. THE TRICK THEN IS TO CAPTURE THE SALES VIA A PROFITABLE CONDUIT, which they have set up with dermatology products. These are long term items and I took a punt that they will attract women. Hopefully the new product which lasts a year and is easy to use (per reviews) will explode. There is no ultimate winner here. It comes down to peoples preference, cost, knowledge it exists etc. The thing to bank on is that MYX appear to be setting up a SYSTEM to market products, which will naturally produce high yields in future. Hopefully they will then attract many more manufacturers who dont want to prostitute themselves to the large wholesalers and retailers who pay the manufacturers NIL.
