    I think by the time your 50 you'd be past worrying about whether you own a home or not, and with a bit of luck with your health and a balanced investment portfolio should be well into your fianacial freedom period.

    The problem now is affordability, if things continue the way they're going we'll see a generational change in attitude towards home ownership and start to follow the european trend of lifelong renting.

    I've said on here before, only 14% of the adult population in Germany own property. Ok different hemisphere, different economies, but the reason only 14% 0f adults own property simply comes down to affordability. Its not affordable. And we're well on our way down that path ourselves.

    I guess if you like property as a safe, strong investment in this country more and more people will turn to the ASX listed property trusts to get exposure to the sector and to capitalize on any growth. Probably a path i'd strongly consider if i was just starting out all over again.

    It is horses for courses and the beauty is you get a choice.
