    We can only guess that he drove to the police station to do a burnout because he was compelled to do it by his burning desire to taunt the police and feel great being able to do that. What was good for him at that time was to satisfy that desire. His desire was so great that he felt untouchable. If he knew he would be caught and lose his car, he wouldn't have done it that time when he got caught.
