the recent Lib Govs have been an aberration from the Menzies tradition. what these prove is the need to assess each candidate on their own merit and to assess the state of the affiliated party separately. when parties recruit members they need to assess the background of applicants rather than have an en masse intake. their marketing has apparently focused on religious orgs in recent yrs (since Howard was defeated imo) as a consequence of the rise of religious-based leadership.

has the current leadership shown the same focus? have they learned from the experience off their 9 yrs in Gov and the damage done to their party?

Dutton seems much more circumspect though also, once a decision is made, obstinate in his pursuit of the Gov using what seems to me to be rather specious bases. the current demand for detail, when he would surely understand the process for the development of the Voice legislation, is clearly specious. fairly standard opposition strategy as far as I can see.

I don't see the need to reject the Libs out of hand Piste as the last terms in Gov were so aberrant as to be a passing problem. the lesson I've taken from the experience is to avoid all political parties as the members truly represent party dogma and policies to the electorate rather than representing the electorate as they are supposed to do.

cheers for your independent conscience Piste.
