As you say the D word is all important both for shareholders and any potential deal for WI.
Therefore one would think the way forward is already laid out. Drill through the guts and declare a discovery.
Problem is I don't think SM is on that track at all.
He basically stated drilling for a discovery was not a priority it was more about the information they gather. Short game V long game.
I think this is the basic problem I have.
SM wants info, I want a discovery booked.
Someone above said seismic could start in March, I have no doubt it could if the trucks are already at site but I'd be interested in how long you think it would take from acquisition- interpretation to release?
I suspect not less than 6 months....probably longer for 3D. So March start you are suddenly at August.
I imagine whilst they are there they would do 2D to the east but does that mean then that they drill based on 2D then again do 3D after?
If they were and have drilled off 2D and now seem to be balking at that does that not then mean that the basin is more complicated than first perceived?
Seems to me that 3D is on the table because of the multi layered horizons and 2D is not going to cut finding the best spot to drill.
I personally believe we are in danger of not drilling another well this year and I'm not too chuffed with that idea.
