What would be the impact of someone establishing a new copper smelter in the Yorke Peninsula or Mid North region instead of exporting copper concentrate? The Nyrstar smelter at Port Pirie does lead and silver, but not copper or gold that I can see.
There used to be copper smelters at Kapunda, Wallaroo and somewhere near Burra but they all closed a long time ago and transport technology has changed massively, but probably so has smelting technology.
