That's some really great news to end the week @Embista smile.png
It seems MNS dragged their heels on their Townsville facility too long, having to concentrate on the scale up of their initial factory in New York, as wall as trying to keep their Tanzanian mine supply dream alive.
As we now know, the access road has been built and the precinct is shovel-ready, so it's call or raise, Council have called their hand and Magnis have nothing ready (nothing against them BTW).
QPM are really setting themselves up with Edify as the cornerstone tenants, with the CAH & BB waste gas input a benefit to the whole precinct.
This for me, the collaborative aspect of QPM's project, is going to win them the support to reach favourable FID.
Setting up the precinct for an affordable energy source, as well as wider north QLD don't forget, and decarbonising the upstream suppliers.
Assisting the ore suppliers with decreasing their footprint by taking their waste material.
Showing the Lansdown precinct is not greenwashing, by using waste gas in, and producing zero solid waste out. Simply huge.
Probably other aspects of assisting neighbours with their trucking movements (plenty of empty trailers heading back to port after dropping off an ore load).
There would be contact within the various layers of government, and so far local and state have been very forward-leaning with QPM, the Feds enviro approvals are in, recent Federal and German govt support for Edify; clearly the expectation is its Game On.
A German export credit agency announcement wouldn't be out of the question.
The Federal Gov starting to knit together their future industry/clean energy/regional development roadmap with todays formal announcement of consultations for the country’s first National Battery Strategy: https://www.minister.industry.gov.au/ministers/husic/media-releases/supporting-australias-battery-manufacturing-industry-charge-ahead
There's an issues paper written and consultation on it will now shape 'Australia’s National Battery Strategy and our future battery industries' (that govt will support) - my emphasis.
Submissions are now open and close 3 March, so just a month for players to get their pitch into the Minister.
Trusting SG and the team are preparing their submission (though they are certainly already on the Minister's radar), and appropriate support arrives out of the review process based on a project's value add / ESG & carbon footprint / regional boost / non-China offtake partner-supply chain / project readiness to deliver scorecard, which QPM will tick all boxes. what.png
