This doesn't answer your question but it's interesting.
I've noticed that you often get a reaction on the exact opposite side of the planet. Perhaps because the energy radiating out should meet at that point at about the same time, increasing the impact?
That's about 3,000km due east of New Zealand in the Pacific with no land anywhere near it, so unlikely to be reported this time.
