The news today is just a "milestone", so I can't see any reason for excitement. Also, the satellite phones for the docking unit sounds remarkably similar to the old "Iridium" project, which resulted in 50 communications satellites being put into orrbit at the height of the tech-boom. Unfortunately, the exorbitant pricing structure of Iridium phones doomed them to oblivion when global roaming on standard mobile phones was coming into play. The result? 50 dead satellites in orbit that are now used as party tricks - their reflective solar panels "flash" brilliantly as they pass overhead, and you can predict to the second when they wil appear. (there's a website and iphone app that does this).
